Obituary for Sherry Burroughs
Sherry M. Burroughs, 63, of Pekin passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Pekin Hospital. She was born January 12, 1955 in Herrin, IL to Harold and Juanita Alene Wallace Potts. She married Wayne Mencin in 1974; he preceded her in death. She later married Jeff Burroughs June 1, 2002 in Delavan; he survives. She is also survived by her sons, Steve (Stacy Shelton) Mencin of Pekin; Chad (Rachel) Mencin of Manito; daughters, Angela (Justin Martin) Mencin of Marquette Heights, Bobbi Jo (Gerald) Dobson of Sweeney, TX; step-children, Cooper Burroughs of Bloomington, Cora Burroughs of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Her parents; brothers, David Falco, Dennis Potts and sister, Lois Diane Potts also preceded her in death. Sherry was an amazing artist, she enjoyed crafting and photography. During her working years she dedicated her time working with mentally disabled adults. She loved her family very much and would have done anything for anyone. She will be greatly missed. In honor of Sherry’s giving nature her family chose to donate to Gift of Hope. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints 2104 S. 14th Street Pekin, IL 61554 at 12 noon with visitation one-hour prior at the church. Bishop David Dille will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central IL Memorial Kidney Fund, P.O. Box 235 Morton, IL 61550 in her name.
