A. Brunkow, 87, of Marquette Heights, IL passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 in Peoria, IL. He was born December 3, 1927 in Alma, WI to Arnold John and Corabelle Spooner Brunkow. He married Patricia J. Welch November 19, 1948 in Aledo, IL. She preceded him in death January 2, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; sister, Betty and son-in-law, John Bordner. He is survived by his sons, John Brunkow of Galesburg, IL, Richard (Melinda Cadwell) Brunkow of Galesburg, IL, Randall Brunkow of Marquette Heights, IL, Michael Brunkow of Savage, MN; daughters, Julie Bordner of Glasford, IL, Susan (Gearold) Heffren of Groveland, IL, Karen Doubet of Fairview, IL; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Ardyth Johnson of Maple Grove, MN, Donna DePrenger of Mason City, IA; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Genola Gray of Pekin, IL. Vernon worked for Sherwin-Williams Paint Co. in Pekin, IL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Pekin, IL where he was a past Grand Knight. A visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service and burial of cremains will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin, IL at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus in Pekin, IL in his name.
