Obituary for Thomas H. Thorp
Thomas H. Thorp, 78, of Tremont, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
Thomas was born in Streator, IL to Harris and Beatrice Fulk Thorp on September 10, 1943.
He married Regina “Jeannie” Kohlrus on March 20, 1976 in Peoria, IL; she survives. Thomas is also survived by his children, Russell (Susan) Poe, Michele (Brian) Williams, Derek (Laura) Thorp, Tamara (Tammy) Thorp, Tom Thorp, Tim Thorp, and twelve grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Harris Thorp; mother, Beatrice Thorp Axline; his daughter, Anne Marie Thorp, and his granddaughter, Hannah Joy Thorp.
He graduated from Wenona High School in Wenona, IL in 1961, where he played the trumpet in the band. He loved playing Taps for funerals of local servicemen. He graduated from Fort Lauderdale University. He served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard. He was an avid bowler holding house records at Rosewood Lanes for many years. He loved basketball, especially Bradley and Manuel Rams. He was an assistant girls basketball coach at St. Philomena. He also loved baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
Cremation has been accorded and visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at New Castle Bible Church in Mackinaw, IL. Funeral services will be immediately following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Sauder officiating.
Burial will be Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Wenona Cemetery in Wenona, IL.
