Obituary for Terry T. Batts
Terry T. Batts, 75, of Peoria, Illinois, died December 6th, 2022.
He was born April 21, 1947, in Macomb IL to Thomas Jefferson Batts & Clara Bell Calhoun. Linda Fencil was his younger sister. They all precede him in death.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Karen Batts (Jett); she survives. Father to Tina (Jim) Cannon, Chillicothe, IL & Laura (Arnie-deceased) Edwards, Peoria, IL.
Terry was blessed with four grandchildren: Amanda Cannon (Amanda Elsey-engaged) E.Peoria, IL, Kayla Drake (London) Peoria, IL, Perry Siefferman Peoria, IL & Jessica Winscott (Benton) Chillicothe, IL. And blessed again once more with seven great grandchildren: Leila Thomas (9), Autumn, Ryvan & Ashton Edwards (7), Violet Drake (2), Theodore Winscott (11 months) and Grayson Drake (6 months). He leaves behind his beloved dog, Panda. Who loved and served Terry moments by moments.
He attended Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois at young age, until he graduated, class of 1966.
Terry Batts was one of the few founders of Lighthouse Deaf Church (now closed) in Bartonville, Illinois. He was a firm believer in God’s Gospel to be made accessible through American Sign Language.
He used his natural skills & ability to fix cars. Something that his step father Orville Gilham allowed and encouraged him to do. Which led to a long career in being an auto body man. He worked at several shops: Central Autobody-Peoria, Sandrock Autobody-Pekin, University FordPeoria, Bob Dennison Ford- Bloomington & BMW-Peoria.
Lastly, the family would like to express our deep-heartfelt thanks to DR. TERRY SMITH. Because OF HIS CARE, LOVES, KINDNESS, and OPEN PRAYERS to Terry TO STRENGTHEN HIS STAND IN GOD ALMIGHTY. EXTENDED MANY-THANKS TO OSF STAFFERS AND PERSONAL NURSES TO TERRY. Thank you!
Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.
