Obituary for Tena Hiltz
Tena May Thomas Hiltz 65 of Peoria passed away Saturday July 23, 2011 at her residence. She was born April 2, 1946 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Theron Ora and Ruth A. Nelson Thomas. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Ora and Jessie Thomas of Lead, South Dakota, her father; Theron Ora Thomas in 1963, and her first husband; Chuck Edwards in 1981. Surviving is her husband of 20 years, Dan Hiltz of Peoria, her mother; Ruth A. Shackelford of Peoria, son; Kieth A. Edwards of North Pekin, daughters; Faith Thomas of Chicago, Danna Grace Moore of Peru, Indiana, brothers; James B. Thomas of Springbay, William Paul of Aumsville, Oregon, sister; Marijane Thomas of Peoria, uncles; Gayle Thomas of Salt Lake City, Utah and Loyale Thomas of Rancho Kukumonga, California. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a granddaughter; Amanda of Peru, Indiana. Tena went to Monroe Avenue and Kelly Avenue grade schools and Richwoods Highschool. She knew Jesus as her personal Savior and attended City Church at Dream Center in Peoria earlier this year. Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held. Her sister Chaplain Marijane Thomas will officiate. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to City Church @ Dream Center Peoria 714 Hamilton, Peoria, IL 61603 to help with funeral costs. To express condolences online visit
