Obituary for Scott A. Balcain
Scott A. Balcain 64, of Peoria passed away at 7:10 a.m. Sunday April 12, 2009 at OSF St. Clare Home in Peoria Heights. Born March 25, 1945 to Helen G. Yuritis and Sam P. Balcain in Gary, IN. He married Ann Henderson Renninger on June 19, 1982 in Peoria, she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two nephews, Gary (Lori) Milliken, Greg (Beth) Milliken, nieces Jan (Jim) Carmichael and cousin Joe (Betty) Balcain. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dolores (Lyn) Milliken. He was of the Catholic faith. Scott graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1963 and from Perdue University, Calumet campus in 1968, where he received a Bachelor degree in Architectural Engineering. He worked in sales for Carrier Heating and Air-conditioning in Chicago and received Carrier training in Syracuse, New York and first came to Peoria in 1976. Later he worked for State farm in Bloomington as Chief Engineer in the Mortgage Division. He again worked for Carrier before going into business for himself at Midwest Construction Company in 1982. For the last eight years he worked for Scott Balcain Photography in Peoria as a professional Photographer. He also taught an introductory photography class at ICC from 2004 to 2006. There will be no local service and a Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held at a later date at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Memorials may be made to St. Jude or to a charity of your choice. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
