Obituary for Sara Jean Lewis Maquet
Sara Jean Lewis Maquet passed away on August 31, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, William Emerson Maquet. Sara spent most of her life in Pekin, Illinois. From serving as a high school cheerleader to volunteering at the Red Cross and serving on the Pekin 108 School Board, Sara served her community well. Her greatest joy, however, was helping her family. From playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing homemade Kibbie, apple pies and applesauce, sewing Halloween costumes, and hosting family dinners, Sara was her happiest when surrounded by family. Her family will miss her smile and positive outlook, her sassy sense of humor, her generosity, and her unconditional love.
Sara is survived by two daughters: Pam Maquet Skarnikat (Bill) and Jeannie Smith, one son, William L. (Bill) Maquet (Linda); three grandchildren: Megan Olt (Jim), Ericka Fick (Wess), Adam Smith (Betsy); seven great-grandchildren: Taylor Olt, Trey Olt, Andries Fick, Alanza Fick, Brianna Nash, Cassie LaFollet, Kaylee LaFollet; and her companion for the past ten years, Ed Psinas.
Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
