Obituary for Rebecca Rosy Maroon
Rebecca “Rosy” Maroon 84, of Peoria passed away on Friday December 19, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. Born in Muncie, IN on February 14, 1924 to Clyde and Jane Conger Alexander. She married George “Smokey” Maroon in Chicago on September 6, 1948, he preceded her in death on January 23, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister and son Michael Maroon. Surviving are her daughters; Judith Maroon and Becky (Dewey) Winkler both of Peoria, grandchildren; Cynthia Board, Diane Wright, Eric Hoffman, Heather Winkler and Joshua Winkler. Also surviving are her 8 great grandchildren. Rosy and her husband owned and operated Maroon’s Hitching Post in Peoria. Per her request cremation will be accorded and no services will be held. Memorials may be made to PARC, Community Workshop Training Center. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
