Obituary for Mark Shear
Mark Shear age 66, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday,
March 18, 2018, after being diagnosed with cancer eight months prior.
Mark was born in Colorado Springs, CO on December 4, 1951 to Les and Norma (Haines) Shear. He married Kimberly (Juchems) Shear September 23, 1988 in Lake Tahoe, NV. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Taylor (Mary) Shear of Normal, IL and Mason Shear of Creve Coeur, IL, one brother, Mike Shear of Peoria, IL, and one grandson, Mark Lester Shear II. His last wish upon diagnosis was to meet his grandson, who was born on September 28, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mark owned real estate and continued his work throughout the majority of his battle with
cancer.
Mark loved his family, playing water volleyball every Sunday all summer, but his greatest
passion was Karate. He studied under Mr. Phillip Koeppel and was Ku Dan (9th degree) black belt in Seito Matsumura Shorin-ryu. He was Mr. Koeppel's Senpai (senior student) and was revered by all of his students. He had trained under Mr. Koeppel for 51 years.
