Obituary for Margaret Weitekamp

Margaret Rose Weitekamp, 56 of Pekin, died at her home on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
She was born March 9, 1961 in Pekin, Illinois to Joseph Henry and Marion Lucille Weitekamp.

Margaret graduated from The Academy of Our Lady high school, and attended Illinois State University and Illinois Central College.

She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where she was active in Diocese Council of Catholic Women, The Charismatic Prayer Group, St Joseph Mission Society, St Vincent De Paul, and assisted with parish communications.

If a student of St Joseph Catholic School received a letter from Santa you can bet it was edited by Margaret.

Her vegetable soup has been acclaimed as the absolute best known to Western Civilization.

She is survived by three brothers, Joe Paul (Carol) Weitekamp, John William (Frances) Weitekamp, Mark Stephen (Deborah) Weitekamp; three sisters, Sue Ellen Weitekamp, Katherine Ann Kelly, Christine Mary (Daniel) Shipman; fourteen nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marie Elaine O’Neal.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St Vincent DePaul Society in Pekin or a charity of your choice.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, on May 31, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
