Obituary for Mahala Sue Mathias
Mahala “Sue” Mathias, 65, of Pekin passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care Center in Pekin. She was born January 4, 1947 in Pekin to Leonard and Lillian VonBoeckmann Barker. She married Clifford Mathias in 1975 in Pekin. He survives along with her children, Michael (Shellie) Mathias of Marquette Heights, Danielle (Martin) Brill of Wheatfield, IN, Christopher (Janna) Mathias of West Des Moines, IA, April (George) Staupe of Apache Junction, AZ; two step sons; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild due in April. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Sean Aper. “Sue” was a nurse for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, baking, cooking and in general spending time in the kitchen. Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation in her name.
