Obituary for John Austin
John Raymond Austin, 54 of Peoria passed away on Wednesday May 12, 2010 at his home. Born in Peoria on August 13, 1955 to Gerald and Sarah Buckingham Austin. He married Erin Leary in Peoria on June 23, 2001. He also was previously married to Eileen Frietsch. John is survived by his wife Erin Leary-Austin of Peoria, children: Caleb Austin and Laura Austin both of Peoria, sisters: Linda (Tom) Snyder of Chillicothe, Kathy Nowak of Bloomington, brother Rev. Mike (Suzanne)Austin of Ocala, FL and grandson Jayrid Stoltz of Peoria. His parents preceded him in death. John was an avid drummer and member of the Johnny Ray and the Meantones, The Line, Foolish Pleasure, Red Hot Rider, and The Roadhouse. The groups played locally and in numerous local benefits including the ABBAS Grotto Dentistry for the handicapped, and United Cerebral Palsy. John loved kids and taught the drums and piano lessons to kids of all ages at Flores and Elmore’s Music. John passions also included Santana music and he was a avid CUBS fan. John’s interest outside music and his family was cooking. He worked as a chef at Khaki Jack’s in Peoria for the past 13 years. Cremation has been accorded. Services will be officiated by Reverends Doug Lightly and Mike Austin at 11am on Saturday May 15th at Grace Presbyterian Church 114 W Forrest Hill Ave in Peoria, IL. Memorial contributions should be sent to Heartland Bank for Caleb Austin educational fund.
