Jayson was born on March 11, 1943, in Pekin, Illinois, to Walter "Jay" Becker and Bessie (Miller) Volk, and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Howard Volk. He leaves behind one loving sister, April (Ward) Whicker of Ft. Collins, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Burlingame) of Pekin, IL; and one son, Cary (Karen) Becker of East Peoria. Jayson is also survived by a blended family of step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved all dearly and treated all equally.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and several life-long friends.
Jayson graduated from Pekin Community High School and would eventually work for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring after 30 years of service. Jayson would later purchase the bar Le Pub in Pekin, IL, and retire once more 8 years later. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling across the country, as well as vacationing in the Caribbean and Mexico with his family and friends. Jayson was an accomplished pool player and played in several national tournaments. He also enjoyed playing golf and tried to maintain his handicap at 36. Jayson's quick wit and sense of humor served him well throughout life. Through his generous nature, he helped many a friend and family over the years, as well as donating to many charities during the holiday seasons. In life, Jayson's actions made him one of the good guys, but his heart made him one of the best.
His family would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice for their professional assistance and care.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 234 Derby St., Pekin, IL 61554.
