., 91, of Pekin died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born July 14, 1918 in Peoria, Illinois. She married Harry H. Bowen on January 27, 1938 and was his partner in life and love for seventy years. An infant daughter and her husband preceded her in death.
A resident of Pekin for 56 years, Jane was a member of Altrusa Club and one of the founders of the Pekin “Y” Reserves. She was also a member of the Pekin YWCA and the Pekin Women’s Club for over 50 years and in that time she served on the Boards of the Pekin “Y” Reserves, Pekin YWCA, Tazewell County American Red Cross and Pekin United Way.
She is survived by her children, Bruce (Eva Eagle) of Sisters, Oregon, Keith Bowen of Peoria and Lynne Bowen-Lowe of Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving are her loving friend, Meridel Bowen of Pekin and her grandchildren, Bryan (Lee Ann Rabe) Bowen of Chicago, Amanda (Tyson) May of Pekin and David Lowe of Louisville.
Many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends also survive her.
A celebration of her life is planned on Saturday, October 17
th
at 2:00 pm at the Pekin YWCA. Memorials may be made to the Pekin YWCA.
