Obituary for James Shelby Sr.
James Eldridge Shelby Sr., 72, of Pekin passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria. He was born November 17, 1945 in Lynch, KY to Alfred and Joanne Mock Shelby. He married Wilma M. Meritt July 31, 1964 in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Sharlet (Kevin) Stewart, James (Debbie) Shelby Jr., Steven (Michelle) Shelby, Kevin (Daniele) Shelby, Allen (Cindy) Shelby; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred, Wilma (Tom), Kathy, Elva, Denise, Everett, Alfred and many nieces and nephews. His parents; grandson, Michael Canamore and great-grandson, Ashton Schuck preceded him in death. James worked as a meat cutter; retiring in 2007. He was a former member of the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and hot chocolate. He loved his family especially his grandkids. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Marine Corp League at 4 p.m
