Obituary for Gloria Riggen-Mathis
Gloria Riggen-Mathis, 85, of Kewanee passed away Saturday April 14, 2012 at Morton Villa in Morton. She was born September 3, 1926 in Tulsa, OK to Simpson and Anne Polk Brannan. She is survived by her daughter, Mary J. Williams of Metamora; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Riggen and daughters, Cheryl Riggen Engstrom and Joyce Riggen Bishop. Gloria graduated from Princeville High School and Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She worked as a nurse for many years at Kewanee Public Hospital retiring in 1980. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Kewanee. Gloria was an avid traveler, she loved gardening and reading. Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has been accorded and in honoring Gloria’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service held. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Princeville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kewanee Animal Shelter in her name. The family would like to give Harbor Light Hospice and the entire staff at Morton Villa special thanks for all of their compassionate care.
