Obituary for Gladys I. Neal
Gladys I. Neal, 102, of rural Speer passed away peacefully at UnityPoint Health Proctor on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, after a short illness.
Gladys was born on October 7, 1919, in rural Stark County to Daniel and Mary Kuntz Streitmatter.
She married George J. Neal on February 4, 1945, in Peoria, Illinois. George passed away July 1, 2016.
Gladie is survived by two sons, Doug Neal, and Curt Neal, both of Speer; one sister, Bernadine Cambron of Peoria, and several nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Gladie worked as a secretary in Peoria for several companies before her marriage, after her marriage she helped run the family farm. Gardening and cooking were two of her favorite pastimes.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
