Obituary for Eldon G. "Bun" Hoerr
Eldon G. “Bun” Hoerr, 79, of Peoria passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his residence with his family around him.
He was born March 14, 1941 in Limestone Township, IL to Ted and Margaret Schaeffer Hoerr. His parents; son, Todd Hoerr; grandson, Adam Layton; sister, Joyce Hoerr and brothers, Ted Hoerr and Floyd Hoerr preceded him in death.
He married Marilyn J. Huxtable November 25, 1961 in Peoria; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Margaret (late, Rudy) Finkral, Ted Hoerr, Wendy (Richard) Layton, Jerry (Julie) Hoerr, Jennifer (Steve) Wilson; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hoerr; nephew, Robert Hoerr Jr., and aunt, Ronnie Butler.
Eldon worked for Unarco Rohn retiring in 2003. Most important to Eldon was that he loved being outside with his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman which he shared with his sons and grandchildren. He expressed his love for nature in his beautiful carvings. Eldon was an associate member of Hiram Walker Rod & Gun Club.
Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or the Illinois Cancer Center in his name.
