Obituary for Diane A. Copelen
Diane A. Copelen 68, of Pekin passed away on Friday May 29, 2009 at Pekin Hospital. Born in North Clymer, NY to Donald and Hazel Murphy Hemink on April 14, 1941. She married William “Harley” Copelen in Pekin in 1972, he preceded her in death on November 28, 2001. Her son Eugene Hoyt and stepson Patrick Copelen also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Todd (Deborah) Hoyt of Mesa, AZ, stepdaughter Kathy (Jim) Saunders of Green Valley, stepson Michael (Kathy) Copelen of Washington, sisters; Kathy Summy of Brainerd, MN and Suzanne Alexander of Westfield, NY, brother Terry (Loretta) Hemink of Dunkirk, NY, father In-law, William L. Copelen of Pekin, her good friend Darla Henricks of Tremont and her 5 grand and 2 great grandchildren. Diane was a Custodian at Pekin Community High School and attended the First Methodist Church were she was part of the Compassion Friends. She also was a past President of the Eagles Auxiliary #1869. Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday June 1, at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. Memorials may be made in her name to First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or the House of Hope P.O. Box 1155, Pekin, IL 61555. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
