Obituary for Christopher W. Seidel
Christopher W. Seidel, 64 of Pekin, IL passed away peacefully at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Gateway at River City in Peoria, Illinois.

Chris, who was also know fondly as “Sammy” by his closest friends, was born on December 31, 1957 in Bissett, Manitoba, Canada to Karl and Maria Luise (Sandhaus) Seidel.

At the age of seven, Chris immigrated to the United States with his family and settled in Pekin. He was a 1975 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

A talented hockey player, Chris started playing the sport as a young child in Canada and continued to play for many years in Central Illinois. He played youth hockey, was a member of the Pekin Community High School hockey club and then played with the Pekin Stars, the Peoria Blades and the Twin City Stingers.

Chris worked most of his life as a carpenter, building everything from waterslides throughout the United States, to casinos in Las Vegas to backyard decks for family and friends.

He worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed watching sports especially baseball, Nascar racing and hockey. He also appreciated sharing a beer, a conversation and a laugh with friends at the end of a long day.

Chris is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Seidel; his brothers, Brendan (Suzette) Seidel and Wolfgang (Beth) Seidel; nephews Colin Seidel and Dylan Seidel and nieces, Kiersten (Tyler) Lyons and Lenna Seidel. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Dane Seidel.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at a later date.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
