Obituary for Cecil Duane Young
Cecil Duane Young 74, of East Peoria, formerly of Nichols, IA passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday November 10, 2011 at Fondulac Rehabilitation Care Center in East Peoria. He was born August 1, 1937 in Peoria to James Cecil and June Pearl Siverly Young. He married Jacqueline Ann Howerton January 5, 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Craig A. Young of South Pekin, Terry D. (Wendy) Young of Metamora; daughter, Karen A. Ortega of Peoria; sister, Catherine E. Rees of Washington; seven grandchildren, Jerome Young, Jennifer McKenzie, Monica Ortega, Tara Young, Jarvis Young, Casey Ortega and Janie Young and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Whitby, Jonathon Whitby, Skylar Young, Anna Whitby, Taylor Young, Caidyn McKenzie and Forrest Needham. Cecil worked as a truck driver for many years, last working for Smith Transfer, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pekin and the Teamsters Union. Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Friday November 18, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Flame Family Restaurant, 939 W. Mount Vernon Street, Metamora. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Toys for Tots, OSF Hospice, Foster Pet Outreach or TAPS in his name.
