Obituary for Catherine Braden
Catherine L. Braden, 85, of Hanna City passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born June 8, 1934 in Baylis to William and Minnie Spencer Ayers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lisa Chapman and sisters, LaNora (Paul) Woolard, Nelle “Bonnie” (Don) Dansby and Joann (Jack) Durham.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori J. Braden; step-daughter, Tina (Mike) McClelland; grandchildren, Tom (Terren) Blacet, Katelyn (Jake) Stetler) Blacet; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kate, Sophia, Catherine, Aurora, Karter; siblings, Eloise (Fran) Christie, Betty (Gary) Bessler and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine worked at Kramer’s as a car hop at age 14 and as a long-distance phone operator for over 40 years; retiring in 1991.
In her early years Catherine was a member of the Alley Cats bowling league. She was an avid Elvis lover. She enjoyed sports, Michael Jordan, Dale Jarrett and the St. Louis Cardinals. Catherine was a loving mother and grandmother; she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved to watch her grandchildren play sports.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
