Obituary for Bernard J. Pate
Bernard J. Pate 61, of Washington passed away Tuesday August 25, 2009 at his home. He was born March 26, 1948 in Peoria, IL. to John and Agnes (Zilch) Pate. He was married to Mary Ann K. Sherlock on July 29, 1982 in Peoria, IL. She survives, also surviving are daughters; Kelly Jo Gutierrez of Richardson, TX, Jennifer L. (Sam) Ryans of Peoria, step-sons; Blaine D. (Sandy) Hauk of Washington, IL, Curtis M. (Wendy) Hauk of Peoria, step-daughter; Tonya M. (Melvyn) Hauk of Richardson, TX, sisters; Marion (Dan) Reese of Morton, IL, Jessie (John) Conner of Hampton, VA, Betty (Ken) Elias of Peoria, Shirley Blake and Wendy Croxton both of East Peoria, IL, 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Danielle and brother Richard. He worked at Caterpillar for 36 years retiring in 2002 and then worked as a security guard for Securitas. He was in the U.S. Army serving in Viet Nam. He played in country western bands for years. Bernard was a gentle loving husband, father and grandfather. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private services will be held. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co., Pekin/Peoria will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
