Obituary for Roger McNeese
Roger Daniel McNeese, also known as Rebel Rose, would have celebrated the 35th anniversary of his 29th birthday this year. Unfortunately, life had other plans. He honked his last air horn with his family by his side on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 8:08pm at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Roger is now arm in arm with his mom and dad, Beatrice “Goldie” Trenary McNeese and Woodrow “Bony Bill” McNeese. Awaiting him with open arms was also his sister, Linda Long, and brother, Dennis McNeese.

Roger leaves behind four children that were his heart and soul, no matter how much they annoyed him, Tiffanie McNeese, Nichole McNeese, Joshua McNeese, and Justin McNeese. He also leaves behind two sisters, Faye Liesman and Vera Whetstone, that admit to torturing him relentlessly as kids, which he more than likely deserved. Roger was also a grand-daddy to four children, an uncle to many, and friend to many more.

Roger was passionate about astronomy, dragons, and science fiction but he was more of a Star Trek fan than Star Wars. Disney shows would bring him to tears as well as any dog that needed adopted. He did forget to keep his ‘69 Shelby Mustang to give his daughter when this day finally came but she has forgiven him for that transgression. His obsession of NASCAR was well known by many and you would catch him on race days giving anyone that would listen play by plays.

Roger was an over the road truck driver for various companies for over 30 years, including Star Transport and G&D Integrated. He loved the open road but missed time with his family. His favorite location was the Carolinas where they knew how to make sweet tea and always offered sweet, southern kindness.

We will remember Roger at a Celebration of Life instead of a funeral because he wouldn’t want anyone fussing over him like that. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2pm at Green Acres, 605 W Lakeland in Morton. As he would say, “Stop in and say howdy.” We encourage bringing photos to share and wearing something that honors his spirit. Food donations can be dropped off between 9am-2pm on Saturday and monetary donations can be made out to Roger McNeese. Words of condolences can also be shared at csmico.com
