Obituary for David Archdale
David Leo Archdale, 70, of Creve Coeur, passed away on Tuesday, April 10th, at 3:07pm, surrounded by his family.

Dave, who had many nicknames, including ‘Archie’ and ‘Pork’, was born in January of 1948 to Virginia and Leo Archdale. Preceding him in death were his mom and dad, sisters Nancy Shelander, Sue Turney, and Sherrie Hedden, and one brother, Richard Archdale. Surviving, is Dave’s loving wife of 45 years, Mary Archdale of Creve Coeur, IL, daughters Dawn (Roger) Burnett, and Sarah (Josh) Compton, and sons John (Cheri) Archdale, Scott (Megan) Archdale, and Darryn Dunbar. Also surviving are Dave's sisters Judith Baylie, Trudy (Rick) Gall, Jackie Sherman, and Angela (Jim) Slater. Dave leaves behind an undetermined number of grandkids, and great-grandkids.

What can you say about a man that has done a lot in his life, and is loved by so many? How can you possibly sum everything up into a couple short paragraphs? This loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather was an avid race fan. Dave supported go-karts, motorcycles, and stock cars throughout his life. Dave was ready to start this race season as a dirt modified car owner. Though the family has lost the best resource for anything motor related, Dave has gone from helping to change tires, to the best seats in the house at any race.

Dave was a Vietnam veteran, a motorcycle shop owner, and a Law and Order fanatic. For most of Dave’s life, he was an armed guard. Most people that knew Dave during his working career, knew the hardened man that was always armed. For others, they knew a hardened man that always had room for a peanut butter and jelly Uncrustable, as long as it was grape. Some knew if Nestea iced tea had a rewards program, Dave would’ve had a fleet of new trucks. And some people knew both sides.

To know Dave was an honor. To listen to him was inspiring. To be a part of his family was a blessing. To be a friend of his was uplifting. To be respected by him was a privilege. To love him…to love him was easy.

Services for Dave will be held on Friday, April 20th, at the First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur (425 Rusche St.). Visitation will be held from 4 – 6pm, and a service from 6 – 7pm. Immediately following the service, please join us for a Celebration of Life at the VFW hall in Creve Coeur from 7 - 10pm (628 S. Main St.).

Please share this with anyone that might’ve known this wonderful guy.
