Obituary for Dale Edward Gettys
Dale Edward Gettys, 88, of Morton passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born August 9, 1933, in Wheeling, WV to Charles E. and Gertrude A. Schrebe Gettys. His parents preceded him in death.
He married Stella M. Milan November 19, 1955, in Wheeling, WV; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Gregory L. (Awilda) Gettys, Valerie A. Gettys; grandchildren, Jesse Miller, Randon (Abby) Gettys, Dr. Bryan Gettys; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Miller and sister, Patricia Waseman.
Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Komatsu retiring in 1999.
Dale loved his family. He also loved fishing with his son, Greg. He enjoyed playing dart ball, bowling and he played softball. He was a devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin. Dale loved the Lord and his church.
Cremation has been accorded and Military Honors followed by a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Our Savior Lutheran Church 2223 Sheridan Road, Pekin, IL 61554. Pastor Stephen Barnes will officiate.
