Obituary for Elbert D. Harper Jr.
Elbert Douglas Harper Jr., 75, of Bartonville passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born May 17, 1933, in Peoria to Elbert D. and Georgia Songer Harper Sr. He married Mary Lucille Cunningham on Nov. 12, 1954, in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are his four children, Rose Blackford of East Peoria, Mike (Patty) Harper of Mapleton, Sandi Gebhardt of South Carolina and Mark Harper of Bartonville; three stepdaughters, Mary Claudette Foster of Canton, Linda (Dale) Berry of Canton and Phyllis Parker of West Peoria; one brother, Merle Harper of Peoria; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He retired from Butternut Bakery in 1999, with 40 years of service. He was an Army veteran. He will be greatly missed by all his loving family and friends. Cremation will be accorded and no services will be held. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Methodist Medical Center or Spoon River Home Health.
