Obituary for MArgaret Geier
Margaret A. Geier 78, of Pekin passed away Tuesday May 24, 2011 at Timbercreek Rehabilitation Center in Pekin. She was born March 1, 1933 in Farmington to Richard and Mary Tomlianovich Matkovich. She married Carl V. Geier September 4, 1954 in Canton. He survives along with her daughters; Mary (Doug) Kelley of Webster, NY, Caryl (Craig) Hoobler of Bloomington, sons; Charles Geier of Pekin, Mark Geier of Normal, 5 grandchildren; Angela, Janet, Roxanne, Joshua, Danica and 2 great-grandchildren; Zoe and Jordan. She is also survived by her brother; Richard Matkovich of Chillicothe and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son; Bernard Geier. Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where she was on the Liturgy Committee, she scheduled the Gift Bearers, was in the choir, she was a Eucharist Minister, CCD Teacher and she was in the Altar and Rosary Society. She worked at the KC fish frys, baked for funeral dinners, she was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, she also volunteered at Hallmark House playing piano and helping with Bingo. She was very devoted in sending cards for all occasions to everyone she knew. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday May 27, 2011 at 11:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin with Burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Fr. James Pankiewicz will officiate. A visitation will be held Thursday May 26, 2011 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin from 5 to 7 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. Memorials may be made to Healthwell Foundation, 9801 Washingtonian Blvd, 9
