Obituary for Challis C. Lucas
Challis C. Lucas, 81, of Morton passed away Sunday October 14, 2012 at Morton Terrace. She was born April 4, 1931 in Pekin to Roy and Marjorie Scheeler Keller. She married William V. Lucas on November 17, 1950 in Peoria. He survives along with her children, Michael (Yvonne) Lucas of Morton, Mark (Robin) Lucas of Morton, Marta Lucas of Morton; grandchildren, Eric (Angela) Lucas of Washington, Ashley (Donald) Smith of Morton, Matthew (Kati) Lucas of Morton; great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Kaleb, Kaylee, Jarett, Kylie, Mya and Karli. She is also survived by brother-in-law Ed Ercegovich of Bettendorf, Iowa, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Ercegovich. Challis was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria where she was a Sunday School Teacher and taught Vacation Bible School. She recently attended Grace Church of Morton. She was a volunteer at Restmor Nursing Home in Morton and also worked in the Republican Women's Organization. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing. She loved raising her dogs but most of all, her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter 606 W. Glen Ave., Peoria, IL 61614 in her name.
