Obituary for Robby Stubbs
Robby Anderson Stubbs, a resident of Samaritan Place at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria died at home on August 26, 2014. Robby was born July 11, 1918 at Methodist Hospital in Peoria to Gustave and Arah Anderson. She married Frank E. Stubbs on November 18, 1945, following Frank's return from service in the Pacific during WWII as a Major in the Army. Frank preceded her in death on September 20, 2003. Robby's sister, Hope Gamble, also preceded her in death. Robby is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Hanna (William) of Denver, Colorado, and her son, Curtis Stubbs of Peoria. She also is survived by four grandsons – Andrew Becker, Erick Hanna, Matthew Stubbs, and Michael Stubbs (Jennifer), and great granddaughter Maida Stubbs. Robby was a lifelong resident of Peoria. She is a 1940 graduate of Bradley University (English & Library Science), where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Robby’s father and his business partner opened Potter and Anderson Jewelers in 1928 when Robby was 10 years old. She met her husband Frank when he was hired by Potter and Anderson as a gemologist. Robby and Frank owned and worked in the store until 1995. She had a lifelong passion for beautiful jewelry and silver. Robby was a member of P.E.O., the Mothers' Guild, and served in multiple leadership roles with the Methodist Hospital Service League. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, where her remains will rest next to her husband. Robby and Frank were among the original residents of Lutheran Hillside Village. Robby's life will be celebrated by her family and friends at the Lutheran Hillside Village Waters of Life Chapel on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at 6901 N. Galena Road, Peoria. Contributions in Robby’s memory may be made to the Lutheran Hillside Village Benevolent Fund.
