Obituary for Eula Brown
Eula Mary Brown was born April 8, 1926 to the late Emma Louis and George Critten. She peacefully transitioned from this life to life eternal on August 30, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center. She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Ray Critten. Eula was born in Villa Ridge, Illinois and attended elementary school in Charleston, Missouri. She was raised by her foster mother, Mary (Madea) Hawkins. She was the last of fourteen children and one foster sister. Eula was married to the late Herman Brown of which one child was born. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Eula gave her life to Christ at the Delaware Baptist Church in Washington, DC around 1988 where she was a faithful member until illness prevented her from regularly attending. Eula moved from DC to Peoria in 2009 to live with her youngest son. She is survived by four children, Marva Jones, Valerie Critten-Stewart, Hermetta Brown all of Washington, DC, Clarence Brown (Jennifer) of Peoria, Illinois; seven grandchildren, E.J. Critten, Tim Anderson, Stephanie Long, Korlene Jones, Tonette Lancaster, Jennae Brown, Christopher MeNutt Jr.; ten great-grandchildren; three god-sons, Keith Hill, Eric Clark, Dwight Little and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Higher Dimensions Praise and Worship Church 2610 W. Nebraska Ave., Peoria, IL 61604.
