Obituary for Erma McDonald
Erma M. McDonald, 94, of Pekin passed away at 5:04 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria. She was born January 20, 1921 in Orchard Mines, IL to Antonio and Rose Alessi Menghi. She married Thomas M. McDonald September 1, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin; he preceded her in death March 20, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Lino Menghi and sister, Mary J. Dalcher on January 23, 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Bridgett McDonald of Pekin; nieces, Mary Ann Ladendorf of Pekin, Susan G. (Steve) McLoughlin of Pekin; nephew, Robert C. (Pam) Dalcher of Pekin; brother-in-law, Calvin D. Dalcher of Pekin; four great nieces; three great nephews; seven great-great nieces and five great-great nephews. Erma graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1939. She retired from CPC, International in 1977 after 30 years. She was the assistant to the purchasing agent at the time of her retirement. She previously worked for Pekin Township Supervisor Ed Conaghan from 1939 to 1941. Erma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, the Choir and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was also a member of the Pekin Coalition for Equality and she volunteered as a counselor for TCRC, Inc. Ann Benjamin Camp Program. A special thank you to the homecare staff Carla and Monique and to the staff at Riverview. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin. Burial will follow the services at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry Program in her name.
