Francis “Frank” Leroy Johnson, 59, of Bartonville died at 7:06pm Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Born November 2, 1955, in Peoria to Robert Lewis and Norma Jean Lightbody-Stephens Johnson. On July 7, 2007 he married Tammy Breese. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest sister Joyce Johnson-Stanton. Surviving are his children: Frank Jr. (and Christi) Johnson of Vancouver, WA; Kimberly Johnson and Kristine Johnson, both of Mapleton, IL. Also the children he raised as his own: stepson Jeff Lingenfelter, Rick Lukehart II, Jeraud Boyd, Jimmy Picardi and Sam Bill. Frank had 7 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren. His surviving siblings: Janet McDonald of Metamora; Chuck (and Carol) Johnson of Bartonville; Robert (and Melissa) Johnson of Havana, Joni Johnson of Peoria and several nieces and nephews. He owned his own tow company (Tri-County Towing) and radiator shop (Johnson’s Radiators). He was once employed by Keystone Steel & Wire, a heavy equipment operator, a member of Hollis Park District and dirt track racecar driver. Through his love of all racing he was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, he loved camping, playing pool and was passionate on his celebration of Independence Day. Frank was a man of great adventures with a huge heart who adored his family and entertained many with his practical jokes. He didn’t know a stranger, and if you knew him, you won’t forget him. Many of us will miss hearing these phrases from such a beloved man: “Cheese and Crackers!”, “The gettin’ place", “Ditto!”, and one truly dear to his children’s hearts is “I love you oh so much!” Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 3pm-1am at Butler’s Supper Club in Mapleton. His final resting place will be at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Frank Johnson Memorial Fund at Southside Bank.
