Obituary for Wyatt Gene Grider
Gene was born April 25, 1958, in Pekin, IL to Jack and Nora Grider (Krohn). He is preceded in death by his father, Jack and his stepfather, Dick Krohn. He is survived by his three sisters, Mardell, Tina and Dawn. The joys of his life were his nieces, nephews, four stepchildren and God daughter. Sarah, Clara, Luci, Jonathan, Alex, Megan, Amy, Sarah, Eric and Melissa. Gene passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 24, 2023.
Gene’s kindness, generosity, wit and wisdom were evident to all who knew him. His faith and upbringing were his moral compass.
There is nothing Gene couldn’t do and no outdoor adventure that didn’t interest him. Gene built his cabin on 12 acres of wooded land, overlooking the Mackinaw River. When the cabin fell in a hole while digging a basement, he built a second cabin!
His soul was tied to the outdoors. Gene hiked, biked, shot, camped, sky dived, and loved canoeing and playing volleyball. He was most at peace when he was in his canoe on a river.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. If you want to honor or remember Gene, share your heart and smile with another.
