Obituary for Winnifred Kruse
Winnifred B. Kruse, 94 of Bartonville, IL passed away at 1:09 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at her home surrounded by several of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Winnifred was born in Peoria County on November 26, 1916 to Fred and Flora Helmantoler. She had one brother, John Eli, previously deceased. She married Merlin L. Kruse at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bartonville, IL on August 20, 1939. Merlin, vice president of Bartonville Bank, died May 27, 1997. Winnifred is survived by her four children: Willard (Cecelia) Kruse of Peoria, Kaethe (Allen) Schick of Ellicott City, MD, Constance (David) Hardy of Hickory Hills, IL, and Clifford (Fiancee Wanda) of Green Bay, Wisconsin; eight grand children and thirteen great grandchildren. Winnifred was a long time member of Bethel Lutheran Church and her Confirmation Circle. She and Merlin especially loved traveling the highways and byways of the United States and Cananda. She thoroughly enjoyed her children and created a special bond with each grandchild and great grandchild. Her witty and effervescent personality endeared her to them who referred to her as their “way cool GG.” Memorial donations may be made to the Peoria Methodist Medical Center Hospice Program. Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held at this time.
