Obituary for William Stoda
William F Stoda, 83. a Peoria resident for over sixty years passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 at 3 PM at Methodist Medical Center. William was born on February 14, 1927 in Crystal Lake, IL to Floyd W and Gertrude M (Leibold) Stoda. He first married Phyllis Euhus in July, 1945. He married Gloria L Rowland in Peoria, IL on May 31, 1953. She survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Trudy K Corbett, San Clemente CA, Toni M (Douglas) Lais, Peoria, Tammy S (Brant) Ladick, Bloominton IL and Debbie (Fred) Shulz-Peters, Arlington TX., granddaughters, Alexa L and Somer E Corbett, both of San Clemente CA, a sister, Bonita M (Stan) Hobson, Flagstaff AZ., sister-in-law, Dianne Stoda, Pleasant Valley, OR and several nieces and nephews.Preceding him in death were his brothers, James and Ronald Stoda and his grandson, Andrew Corbett. He was drafted into the US Army in June, 1945 and attended Officers Training School in Ft. Benning, Ga. and Military Government School in Carlisle Barracks, PA. He attained the rank of First Lieutenant and was stationed with the US Army of Occupation in Japan  and  Korea until his return to the US in 1948. He remained a member of the Us army reserves until 1952. He graduated From Bradley University in 1952 receiving A BS DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. hE WORKED IN SALES MOST OF HIS ADULT LIFE WITH BLOCK & kUHL, CARSON PIRIE SCOTT, FARAH MFG. CO AND JOHN HANCOCK INSURANCE. uPON RETIREMENT HE WORKED FOR TEN YEARS WITH THE pEORIA pARK dISTRICT AT mADISON AND DONOVAN gOLF cOURSES. hE THEN WORKED FOR THE oLIVE gARDEN PARTTIME FOR THE PAST EIGHT YEARS UNTIL THE TIME OF HIS DEATH. bILL WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE PEORIA SKEET & TRAP CLUB FOR OVER 25 YEARS, SERVING IN MANY OFFICIAL CAPACITIES INCLUDING PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB. hE PARTICIPATED IN REGISTERED SKEET SHOOTING AND WON MANY PRIZES AND LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL TITLES. hE LOVED HUNTING AND IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS ENJOYED PHEASANT HUNTING IN SOUTH DAKOTA AND GOOSE HUNTING IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. His idea of a perfect vacation was a cruise and he and his wife took quite a few of them to the caribbean and mexico. HE LOVED PLAYING CARDS AND BOARD GAMES surrounded by his family and friends. Bill was a member of Elks Lodge #20 and a former member of amvets. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.m on FRIDAY. October 8, 2010 at his church, St Jude Catholic Church, the Rev.
