Obituary for William S. Blackman
William S. Blackman, 77, of Groveland passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born February 4, 1947, in Rochester, NY to B.J. and Cora Hathaway Blackman.
He married Cherly S. Harper; she preceded him in death May 20, 2011. His parents; in-laws and sister, Barbara also preceded him in death.
William worked as an IT Engineer for Caterpillar, retiring in 2011.
He is survived by his children, William “Tony” A. (Angela) Blackman, Tracy Blackman; grandchildren, Tristan Blackman, Lily Blackman and siblings, Cathy (Gary) Whitte and Tom (Gail) Blackman.
William loved his family. He was an avid fisherman, loved scuba diving, hiking, mountain climbing and motorcycles. He was a philanthropist helping several organizations, especially pets and children. He was a regular attendant of Summit Point Church in East Peoria.
Cremation has been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
