Obituary for Walter G. Cassens
Walter G. “Bud” Cassens of Peoria passed away Sunday April 7, 2024, at his residence. He was born May 19, 1933, in Peoria to Walter and Kathryn Cassens. His parents and siblings, Marion K “Peggy” Sanborn. Phyllis J. “Jean” Salter, and Luella C. Fornoff preceded him in death.
Walter married Nancy A. Swanson February 28, 1956 in Peoria; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Mark W. Cassens, Holly L. Germin, his grandchild Christopher M. Cassens, and his great grandchild Emilia A. Cassens.
Both Walter and Nancy graduated from Manual High School in Peoria and Walter worked at several businesses in Peoria including Kibler Automotive, Szold’s, Jill Green Chevrolet, and The Department of Agricultural. Walter served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Walter was a member of West Bluff Christian Church, and he enjoyed playing in the Greater Peoria Church Dartball League where he was a regular for many years.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
