Obituary for Wallace A. Garman
Wallace A. Garman, 94, of Peoria, Illinois died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born on December 3, 1922 in Waverly, Illinois. He was the son of Ross and Helen Garman. He married Blanche V. Smith on April 29, 1949 in Washington, Illinois. She survives. He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Juanita Stevens, and four brothers, Robert Garman, Dale Garman, Larry Garman, and Maurice Garman. He is survived by two sisters, Doris LuAllen, Florence Johnson. He is survived by four children, Sandy (Mike) Arnold of Edelstein, AI Garman of Peoria, Mike (Cheri) Garman of Bartonville, and Judy (Joe) Schlosser of Peoria. Wally has 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Wally worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for (30 years) retiring in 1985. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 979, Bartonville, Illinois. He attended Bradley University where he played baseball and basketball. He was also a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice home for their care and compassion.
