Obituary for Virginia Bowman
Virginia Mae (Thurman) Bowman, 92, of Canton, died at home peacefully in her sleep on April 20, 2018. Ginny got her wish of joining Bob, the love of her life, in heaven where they will forever dance to Big Band music.
Ginny was born on June 25, 1925, in Galesburg, IL. She graduated from Knoxville High School where she and Bob were high school sweethearts. She worked in Peoria until Bob got home from the war in 1945. He arrived in New York on Halloween night and they were married ten days later.
They had five fantastic children: Steve, deceased in 2009 (Gaby); Jackie Bowman Mitchell of Bloomington; Judy Bowman Miller (Harvey) of Chico, CA; Chuck (Judy) of Canton; and Dennis (Terri) of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren + one great-grandson soon-to-be-born. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Andy, in 1986.
Ginny had a wonderful life filled with family joys, laughter and jokes with a prankster husband and five kids who learned well from their father. The Bowman household was a gathering place for friends and family throughout the years, with Ginny as second mom to half the town when her children were growing up. She will be remembered with happy memories of good times and love shared.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
