Obituary for Virgil Wilcoxen
Virgil C. Wilcoxen 91, of Lewistown passed away on Sunday July 25, 2010 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. Born in Lewistown on April 28, 1919 to Hurd and Gladys Mellert Wilcoxen. He married Wilma Ayers in 1950 she passed away in 1970, later he married Rose Hofer in 1974 she preceded him in death in 2003. His son Stanford, brother Jerry and sisters: Elma Dickson Chambers and Maxine David also preceded him in death. He is survived by his children: Randall (Elaine) Wilcoxen of Chillicothe, Robyn (Rick) Hazelwood of Pekin and Carole (Brian) Eatock of Rockford. His grandchildren: Jonathan, Kathleen, Brandon, Chad, Ryan, Rachael, Isaiah and Ian and his 4 great grandchildren also survive. Virgil was a teacher since 1954, he was an elementary school principal and most recently he was a teacher in Havana retiring in 1991. He was a Sunday school teacher, volunteer missionary, farmer and a pilot. He was a life long member of the Nazarene Church most recently St. David Church of the Nazarene. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday July 27, 2010 at 7 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Lewistown Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hallmark House or St. David Church of the Nazarene in St. David, IL.
