Violet Ruth Johnson, 86, of Peoria, IL passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Carle Health Proctor in Peoria.
She was born April 5, 1938, in East St. Louis, IL to Herschel and Cora Carr Rippy. Her parents and siblings, Sherman Rippy, Melvin Rippy, Kenny Rippy and Ann Thuller preceded her in death.
She married Dale P. Johnson on June 15, 1957, in East St. Louis, IL; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Lindell Mark (Sue) Johnson, Judy Kay (Mike) Simkins, Lisa Ann (Darrell) Smith, Eric Scott (Ann) Johnson; grandchildren, Bradley (Maddie) Hale, Hannah (Aaron) Lipe, Lillian (Tanner) Hurt, Mark Johnson, Jenny (Stephen) Hurst, Jacob (Rebecca) Smith, Joshua (Kayla) Smith, Jeremiah (Maria) Smith, Nathan Johnson, Sarah Johnson and great-grandchildren, Abbi, Riley, Aiden, Asher, Declan, Jovian, Miller Kate, Molly, Ellie, Gus, Winnie and Lottie.
Violet loved being a wife of 67 years, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and follower of Jesus. She taught Sunday school from 1964 until the end of her life. Violet loved cooking, welcoming anyone who needed to be loved and her dogs.
Cremation has been accorded and a private celebration of life will be held.
