Vera Mae Mays, 67, of Peoria passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at her residence.
She was born August 24, 1953 in Stringtown, MS to Isaiah and Evelyna (Ora) Thomas Staples.
She married Edward Mays; he preceded her in death. Her parents; brothers, Isaiah Staples Jr., Waymond Colter Jr.; sister, Janie Henry and son, Brenton Staples also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Shurie Staples; siblings, Thomas C. Henry, James Staples, Trina Colter; grandkids, Bryson Bond, Brenton Grayer, Nausicca Thomas, Yausicca Thomas, Symone Staples, Brentisha Staples, Brittney Monk, Brandy Monk; great-grandkids, Syáire Bond, Kaleaha Bond, Bryson Bond Jr., Brenton Grayer Jr. and nieces, Veronica Colter, Jasmine Colter and Breonna Colter.
Vera was a member of Anderson Memorial Church of God in Christ and Bethany Baptist Church.
Vera lived for many years in Arizona and furthered her career as a Surgical Tech. She loved nature and enjoyed shopping. She loved story telling about life and its experiences.
Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.
