Obituary for Trudy A. Seward Schmitt

Trudy A. Seward Schmitt, 68, of Peoria, Illinois, sadly passed away March 4, 2024. She was born on September 19, 1955, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Leona Hayes. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Nancy (Shorty) Carrington, Linda Kear, and Sandy (Lyle) Cotton.

Trudy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John Schmitt; children, Caryn (Joe) McLain, Eric (Kristin) Schmitt, and Andrea Schmitt; grandchildren, Jason (Erin), Zachary, Noah, Taryn, Josh, DaeSeandra, Ricee, and Madeline; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews, and her best friend and caregiver, Alison.

Trudy was the youngest of four sisters. She had a special talent for crocheting and had made many cherished pieces. She loved the fall and Spoon River Drive. Her family remembers her love of haunted houses and pulling pranks on each other. She had a deep love for her dogs and cats. She cherished her family above all else. She loved spending time with them and helping them whenever she was able. She was just a phone call away if you needed someone to talk to. Even when her health started to decline, she had a laugh that could light up the room. She truly was a great friend, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the American Legion Post 100, 211 Legion Rd., Washington, IL 61611. Food and drinks will be served, cash bar available.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
