Obituary for Thomas "T.J." Zimmerman
Thomas (T.J.) Zimmerman, age 46, passed on to be with God on Friday, June 16, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
T.J. was born April 25, 1977, to Thomas D. (Barb) Zimmerman of Smithfield and Deanna (Lafary) Whitmer of Canton.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, Jonathan (Jodi) Zimmerman of Smithfield and step siblings, Elizabeth James, Eric (Jessica) Kinsel and their children, all of Canton. He is also survived by nephews, Zachary (Eve) Zimmerman of Lewistown, Zoe (Dylan) Rosecrans of Cuba and great nephew, Aiden Zimmerman.
T.J. loved his family dearly, his greatest joy at the end was watching his great nephew, Aiden, feed his chickens. T.J. loved being on the river. He worked as a deck hand on the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing for catfish on the Spoon River. He always enjoyed spending time with friends, especially his longtime friend, Brian Demler.
There will be a private graveside family service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
