Obituary for Thomas Glisan
Thomas R. (Porky) Glisan, 68, of Pekin, wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his home on December 13, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on December 4, 1943 to Burrel Harris Glisan and Opal Florence Lober in Peoria, IL. He married the love of his life, Lois Fly, on February 14, 1981. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jesse Glisan and son, Danny Wyrick. He has one surviving brother, Jim Glisan of Boonville, NC, and two surviving sisters, Carol (Charles) Thompson of Laurel, MS, and Jilleen (Kenneth) Bloomer of Manito, IL. Surviving children, Jeffrey (Debbie) Glisan of Wyoming, IL, Debra (Dave) Ellis of North Pekin, IL, Rodney (Natalie) Glisan of Winter Springs, FL, Wendy (Kurt) Hauk-Glisan of Peoria, IL, Todd (Heather) Glisan of Wyoming, IL, Toby (Tara) Glisan of Peoria, IL, Theresa (Danny Joe) Griffiths of Colusa, IL, DeeAnna Wyrick of Pekin, IL and Carl (Amy) Wyrick of West Peoria, IL. He has 11 grandsons, 12 granddaughters, 7 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson and his two best buds Mugsy Fly-Glisan and Chaco Fly-Glisan. He was a Union Operator for Local 649 for 31 years. He was a member of the River City Blues Society. He attended the Illinois Blues Fest on Peoria, IL's riverfront for 23 years. He was a die hard Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks Fan. Porky was an all around great guy. He had a great sense of humor, he loved to dance and his sharp wit was to be envied. A special thanks to Hospice Compassus nurses Christie and Veronica. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of his life will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 715 N. 11th St, Pekin, IL, Saturday, December 17, 2011 beginning at 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pekin Union Mission or Peoria Rescue Mission.
