Obituary for Ted Ahten
Ted Ahten, 78, of East Peoria passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Ahten, and son, Steve Bolen. Surviving are his daughter, Giann (Chuck) Walker of Edelstein; son, Joe (Kim) Bolen of East Peoria; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Ted retired from Caterpillar in 1990 after 35 years of service. He was a life member of Hilton Lodge No. 1143. Ted served in the Naval Reserves from 1953 to 1961. Throughout his life he was active in a variety of sports, from varsity basketball and football at East Peoria Community High School to a life long passion for golf and fishing. His greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Cremation will be accorded. In respect of his wishes, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Methodist Hospice or a charity of your choice.
