Obituary for Stephen Mercer
Stephen R. Mercer, 66, of Peoria passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Home in Peoria. He was born December 14, 1947 in Des Moines, IA to Robert C. and Esther E. Holler Mercer. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by the love of his life, Cecile Mercer of Peoria; son, Stephen Todd; daughter, Stacey Marie; two grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Mercer and his special friends from Auto Lane. Steve graduated from Peoria High School in 1966 and went on to hold various manufacturing management positions at Caterpillar. He retired after 33 years in 2000. Steve said the best years of his life were after Caterpillar. He spent 5 years as a limo driver in Las Vegas. He loved traveling, gambling and his “Miller Lite”. He last worked for Auto Lane in Peoria. Steve requested cremation and no services. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in his name.
