Obituary for Shirley Steubinger
Shirley J. Steubinger, 84, of Bartonville passed away at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Unity Point Proctor, Peoria. She was born December 26, 1928 in Pekin, IL to Frank and Florence Ewers Claudin. She married Richard Steubinger on October 5, 1946. She later married Bill Steubinger on February 17, 1951. They were married 52 years until he passed away August 17, 2003. Surviving are her children, Connie (Glenn) Stieghorst of Bartonville, Caryl (Bill) Tyler of Peoria Heights, Frank (Mary) Steubinger of Bartonville, and Bill (Gaylene) Steubinger of Bartonville. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chad Cruikshank, Julie (J.D.) Oliverius, Holly Tyler, Nicole Steubinger, Jamie Steubinger, Katie Steubinger, Michael Steubinger, Laura Steubinger, and Mark Steubinger. Step grandchildren, Amber (Chase) Fisher, Aaron Goewey, and Mark Goewey. Great grandchild Braxton Wilkinson. And step great grandchildren, Conner Fisher, Ethan Fisher, and Ellie Fisher. Shirley retired from the Circuit Clerks Office at the Peoria County Courthouse. Her passion in life was her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her monthly “club” of Bartonville Grade School gals from 1951 to 2007. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on December 14, 2013 at Bartonville Community Bible Church, 3826 S. Chalmers, Bartonville, IL. Burial of her ashes will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or Bartonville Rescue Squad.
