Obituary for Shirley Sanderson
Shirley Lewis-Sanderson, 82, of Chillicothe passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at her residence. She was born July 25, 1937 in Abingdon, VA to Leslie and Elsie Stewart Friese. Two years later she was adopted by Don and Peggy Moffett, her aunt and uncle in Peoria, IL.
After graduating from Toulon High School in 1954 she went to work for National Security Agency in Washington, D.C. working at Ft. Meade, MD and Arlington Hall. She last worked and retired from State of Illinois Child Support Division and The Children’s Home until retiring in 1999.
Shirley married James Lewis in July 1965; he preceded her in death April 18, 1974. She later married David Sanderson May 31, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV; he survives.
She is also survived by her three daughters, Kelly Lewis, Crystal Friday, Kendra Mize; one son, Larry Tidwell; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Her parents and adopted parents preceded her in death.
Shirley was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed her swimming pool and drinking her Miller Lite. She loved her Pomeranians.
Cremation has been accorded and services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Ark Animal Shelter or any no kill animal shelters in her name.
